Gas tank location

Mounting a aluminum fuel cell in a across the bed tool box on a truck.
Here is my logic or thoughts on this....it puts the gas above the pump{gravity feed}It protects the fuel tank and makes it harder to steal gas or put sugar in the tank,:LOL:,by being locked in the tool box.Gets it out of the cab and still leaves room under the back for a spare tire.I can also offset the tank in the box to the passenger side to compensate for driver weight .

Anyone see some tragic reason or law ,not to mount this tank in the tool box or a draw back that I may not be seeing?:confused:

It will be secured to the bed and tool box with bolts and a 1/4 inch thick plate under the bed rails to keep it attached in case of impact.

One warning...........stay away from NBC reporters. They have a thing about Chevrolet trucks and their fuel tanks.:eek:

You should vent the tank to the outside of the tool box .

Do what Hawk says about the vent. I had a CO2 tank in my tool box this summer and it apparently got hot enough to blow the rupture disk on the tank. Must have been a neat show to have a 10lb bottle of CO2 go off!

But dont get Bob and me started on the sugar in the gas!!!!

I put mine on the front bumper!:LOL:

Roger on the roll over valve/vent to the outside of box!!!

Tank in the toolbox sounds reasonable. I've already gotten in big trouble with a rat rodder from South Dakota over the bumper-mounted tank. :CRY:
