i've been thinking bout rounding out the quarter panel wheel openings on my 72 nova. i thought it might look pretty sweet. a subtle custom mod that wouldn't take away from the look of the stock body too much. i figured i could also stuff some bigger rubber in there. anybody done this or seen this done? how do you think it'd look?
Then have big tires hanging outside the fenders?? Not the look I like, why not tub it instead?? You can usually do a bit of modifying on the inner fender wells and put a decent sized wheel tire combo on the back.

any pictures or websites or something you know of that i could see one of these. i'm really curious as to how it would look. i don't wanna do it unless i really like it.
It's not a 72 Nova, but here are a couple pictures of my '63 Nova bracket racer with radiused wheel wells. I would have loved to narrow and tub it, but it was outside of my budget. So I did what I could afford to do to get the 10" tires under it. As you can see in the second picture those tires stuck pretty good and gave me the consistancy I needed. Guess what you do, depends on your priorites and budget. I had mine done by a local guy who did moonlight body work and he did a decent job.

I've done it before but I don't reccomend it. If your quarters are rusty you have nothing to lose but someone's gonna have to put new quarters on it eventually. You will lose a lot when you try to sell it .
IF YOU'RE GONNA DO IT ANYWAY
I sometimes used electrical conduit bent around a tire to shape it but for a professional looking job on a car like that 63 Nova I got an extra set of front fenders and cut off the flares. The right front flare fits the left rear opening. Left front on the right rear. When finished it looks like it came that way from the factory. It might retain a little more resale value.
