    SCAREBIRD disc brake swap ??????

     



    About to park the 68 Malibu because no more drum brake exitement needed!
    Have any of you guys used the scarebird disc brake conversion kits?
    They are well reccommended by another site but actual user experiences are what most count.
    This is a budget swap and I like to use easily available parts such as available from most vendors, so I am intested in this kit which apparentl uses brackets to retain Gm stuff on the car albeit from different years and models,
    Has anybody converted to dics using this kit? thanks all....

    I havn't, a few from www.tffn.net has used the early mustang front end kits on there Falcons, which requires modefying the drums by machining them into hubs, and then the bracket is used to use stock Ford rotors, from a smaller car ( Escort I think, not shure ) and non 4wd S10 brake calipers, they have had good results. but this is not a Midsize GM, I would suggest tho, there are spindles that www.speedwaymotors.com sells that will allow the use of GM Metric disc brakes be used on a GM midsize

    no i used 72 A body disc spindles off a wagon all A body spindles are the same for disc from 67-72 and they say up to 73 grand pix not sure on them.

    Thanks Matt, I am trying to avoid using custom spindles in case of non availability after a few years down the road, This kit uses the easy to find non trick factory drum spindles, I am just not too sure of how well late model celebrity calipers will slow down my 3600 pound meatball big block malibu,
    Pat you are correct in a body parts up to 72 but bone yards are picked clean so far.

    they can still be had around here there are still some old yards were time as stood still .i have used the wilwood kit that used the old drum spindles
