I should recognize it, but save me the thought process. What rear end is it?
I was told it is out of a 68 or 78 firebird, 10 bolt, 2.73 gear
see the big pin holding the spider gears in? there is a small stud that screws into the carrier that holds that pin in. take the little stud out, and then push the spider gear pin out, and then you can push the axles in deeper and you will see a horse shoe clip that hold the axles in so they cant come out going down the road. hope this makes sense.
Thats what i was thinking ,but i did not want to mess it up, is there a special tool needed to get the clips off?
no, once you get the spider gear pin out, and push the axle in they will pull out or probable fall off on there own.Quote:

Only, thing I could add would be turn the pin so its sitting at a 45 degree angler.after removing the center pin dont move the pinion or you will be picking up spider gears and anti friction shims.

Thanks guys, now i feel real dumb, that was super easy, took a whole 5 minutes, and yes one did fall inside, got it out though, and i almost made the other mistake to, thanks again
nothing dumb about that. if you never did one, then the smart thing to do is ask a few ? i bet it saved you some time. :cool:Quote:
