I ran into a problem while taking the body off the frame. How do I remove the column from the steering box?? I already got the two bolts at the dash. Is there a certain way to unbolt it, or does it just slide out? :confused:

Don't know on the old chebbies, would almost look like if the tube doesn't slide out, you would have to remove the steering wheel and bring the entire shaft out the bottom...... Hopefully someone else has messed with them more then I have.
Are you planing on reusing the steering assembly?? If not I'd just cut it off . If you are the wheel comes off the shaft. The tube comes off the gear box. The shaft gos out the bottom with the gear box.

There isnt any set screw that I saw, but there is a small slot on the top of the shaft....dont know it that has anything to do with it.

Ok.. so I remove the steering wheel, unbolt the gear box from the frame and pull the shaft and box out the front. I'll try that.
