A 30 amp relay is that rating continous or surge? and what would be a safe surge amount on a 30 amp relay?
A lot would depend of the manufacturer of the relay. Go to www.mouser.com and do a search on automotive relays. The fact sheet will provide continuous duty and surge.
Thnx guys!!!!!!:D
Will this work?
Making a 2 speed fan controller ,anything sound fundamentally wrong/or right on track? Use one {spst} relay for power of a dpdt relay to run one side of the fan /low speed / use second {remote switch} pole of {dpdt} relay with the thermostically controlled switch to activate the second pole of the {dtdp} relay.
Heres the idea /key on /key off ,power of the fan .Key on triggers {spst} relay and powers {dpdt} relay to engage full time low speed on fan{no#1 remote pole on {dpdt} relay}.Thermostat comes on at 200 degrees and trips second pole {no#2 remote pole on {dpdt} relay} switching power off of the low side and making contact for the high side.Water temp goes below 200 degrees and thermostat shuts off no#2 pole and that will switch the {dpdt} relay back on to low.Turn the key off and it takes the power away from the {spst} relay and turns system off.
Have you found a two speed fan motor for your radiator? What's it from, or where did you get it?
Junk yard find!!!:D Its from a lincoln. The taurus fans are suppose to be pretty close in cfm. Just look for low mileage car or high miles with no wear on the brake pedal for less used fan.
