Help!!! Need to move car w/ no suspension/wheels

I just recently aquired a 41 Dodge Luxury Liner 2 door sedan. The problem is, I need to bring it to the house, but it doesnt have any front end parts under it, and the rear end isnt under it. All the parts are there, just not under the car. I tried to hire a tow truck to retrieve it for me, but he is talking about hooking a chain to it, and dragging it up on his flat bed. Now I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I know that this would tear up somethin by the time its loaded. There has to be a better way:HMMM: Any ideas?????

If you can get it up on a skid or sheets of plywood. Then drag it on to the flat bed. Just have him hook to what ever you put it on

HMM this idea seems like it could work. Just wondering what I could make a skid out of that will be able to hold up to the weight of the car while trying to pull it.

I would sure hate to tear up the guys yard that the car is sitting in. But sounds like a good idea. I didnt think a boom truck could pick up this haevy of a car.

I towed cars for 7 years in California. It wouldn't be a problem to jack the car up, take a 4x8 sheet of 1/2 inch thick plywood and drill holes in the corners, tie it up under the car, drop the bed down under the front end while it's still on jack stands, lift the bed up to support the weight of the front, put a cheap Wal-Mart tarp under the rest of the car to protect the yard, take the back end off the jack stands, and winch it up. I've one that with a few cars. If the tow operator knows what he's doing it should be easy. Then when you get it home drop the bed down, put a floor jack under each rear corner, and winch it down slow. Put a third floor jack under the front cross member and roll it off...

If that didn't make sense let me know... lol

:) Have a look at the car moving setup in the 327 performance options thread by Sanpedro, that takes a lot of effort out of shifting. And all he used was stuff around the garage.:D

pppfffftt............just went back and read the thread. I agree with denny use a boom truck with slings for no damage.

what we use to do back in the farm days, we would take 2=4''by4'' poles
about 12' long,stick them under each side the car about 4' apart,then put
some 2by4s in the back and the front to keep them from meeting together
tied a chain on front of each 4 by 4 in a V shape, you have a skid!!

BOOM truck? :eek: That SOUNDS expensive not to mention the noise and all the pieces all over the yard. But at least they would be small enough to handle. :LOL:

BOOm Truck = truck with a crane on the back to pick objects up with.... A BOOM truck does not mount a big canon.:LOL:

This sounds like the cheapest way to go, and sounds like it would work pretty good.

The thing is, the body of the car is remarkable shape. Two of the fenders have small dents on them at the bottom, and the trunk lid has a small rust spot on the right bottom corner. I dont wanna tear this car up trying to move it from where it has been resting for over 30 years.

OK.....I finally got the car moved to my house!!!!!

Here is how I did it. First I cut all the tree's down that were in the way. 3 to be exact. Then I made a skid from 2 8' 4x4's, a few 2x4's, and a sheet of plywood. I put the skid under the rear leaf springs, and put an old boat trailer axle under what was left of the front suspension. Then I used my truck to drag the car to the driveway of the house it was sitting behind. Then called a flat bed tow truck to tow it to my house. Tow truck guy only charged me $30. Best thing about it is we did all this with out tearing up anything!!!!!:3dSMILE:
