1962 Ford power brake and tranny problems

Hello Everyone,
Here's my problem. I have a 1962 Ford Galaxie Convertible with a 352 automatic and 4 wheel drum brakes (Power). I was driving and instantly the car began running ruff and the tranny downshifted. I went to pull over and also had no power brakes. The tranny now only stays in first gear and won't shift at all. The car is all original and i want to keep it that way by pinpointing the problem and repairing only what it needs. I don't hear a vacuum leak when i step on the brakes, indicating a bad booster, but again, i'm not an expert. Thanks!!

Trace the entire vacuum "system". You're losing it somewhere, either by leak or by plugged.

Bob was right... It's fixed!

Wanna share how? Case anyone else besides me is curious or ever has the same problem. :D

Thank you for your reply in regards to helping me fix my 62 galaxie. I did just what you said, i went threw all the vacuum hoses and the problem was that the gas pedal linkage was rubbing on the underside of the hose that goes from the intake to the power booster. Who knows how long it was like that, but it finally wore threw. The hose was so brittle that it was hard as a rock. I put a new hose and once again it runs like new. Thank you again... Paul..
