who has not done this

i found this in my fathers old pics, and a few others also in different phases of builds. who can say they have not done this, maybe not as far as putting on the fire suit. but just sat in your project and imagined how it would feel, sound, and accelerate when its done. running through the gears, cranking the steering wheel. i will admit ive put on my fire suit, helmet, arm restraints, sat in all my projects, and finished cars as well, ive even sat in there drinking my morning coffee, ive got a picture somewhere and will post it, so lets see them. pictures of daydreaming in your projects, or finished cars in the garage. only a man would be caught in this state of mind!

Hopefuly there will be a more comfortable seat when finished, but thats where I sit when I move it in and out of the shop.

Done it as a kid....pretending to drive...acrually rolled the neighbours 55 Chevy sedan out on the road when we took it out of gear.

And, also as an adult............................You gotta check the fit, ya know..........

That reminded me of about 30+ years ago. I was standing in my folk living room looking out the window. I seen my ma's car going down the hill and across the street. It ran into the house across the street:eek: I ran out to see what the h--l happened and found my son and nephew sitting in the front seat just looking at each other.:LOL: :LOL: I had to replace the smashed down spout and two boys were seen rubbing there butts.

lots of times, was doing it to the vega and nova before i left spokane. can just imagine the vega with a 283 and a 4 speed, and my car <the way id love to finish it if i had the time and $$> a blown 283 with a 4 speed. you really get "the look" when you get caught making engine sounds and grabbing air gears :LOL: and i agree its a nice way to wind down after working on the car all day.

I got to drive my 28 Hup (at that time it was my fathers) before it was delivered to my house. The plan was to have the car stored at my house since my father bought a new house with less garage space, until he built a new garage, but since then he has given the car to me. The house had a large field just off and down from the back yard, so I got to drive the car down the hill to get it to a place where the rollback could load it. That was the first time she had rolled in more than 20yrs.

I try and stop with the noise making 'bout the time I get the windshield in. I hate to have to clean it all the time.

You're damned right I was even making noises in my grandpa's VW after we brought it back from the lake for the winter after we got it off the trailer I was sittin in it making engine noises grabbin gears honking the horn at chicks and chirping brodies:cool:

All about ergonomics.

If you don't try it out now and again, how will you know if things fit and are comfortable?

A lot of important testing goes on at this stage of the build.

Helps too if you get your sweetie's opinion.
Invite her to sit in the car with you and listen to her opinion.

Yep, same here. I blew the T apart yesterday so my Son could do the final welding today, so time to get off my butt. That extra hour sleep last night helped.:D :D :D

It's all part of the development program if you want the vehicle to be ergonomically correct when it's done! It's very important to the placement of the controls! I've been known to drive the boat home from the launchramp (on the trailer) No vroom noises though!
