Question on a Ford 8" rearend

As I've said before, I took over somebody else's project, he had an 8" Ford rearend already installed (on a '32 Ford Frame), as I'm finishing the frame, I'm going through and making sure everythings in good shape, after disassembling the rear brakes I've discovered that at one time or another, somebody removed the lever's that engage the emergency brakes.
After stopping at my local AutoMasters parts store, they tell me that those parts are to be retained when installing new shoes, and aren't available for purchase (from them).
I need to know what my 8" came out of in order to start tracking down these parts.
Following is a pic. of the tag that was on the rear end...can anybody tell me what I should be looking for and where I should start looking for them? (or direct me to a source where I can decode this...I know the 3.00 is the gear ratio, and the 8 refers to the housing size, but that's it...also - 10" ID drums w/ 1.75 " shoes).

'73-'77 Maverick, 28 spline axles :)
WDW U1 translates to code P.
Code P was the code used for the Maverick until the end of Mavericks, then was used by the Fairmont line.

With that size brakes it's likely an early '70's Maverick.

I know my 8" is from a '74 Maverick 'cause I saw the car it came from and I bought replacement (new) wheel cylinders and shoes from J.C. Whitney, but I am not sure how hard it will be to find such parts at other sources. 1974 does not seem that long ago to me but maybe the parts shelves start to clear out after 20 years or so?

I have the same problem, the E-Brake parts are missing from my Maverick 8" also. I notice my local pick and pull has a couple mavericks, I hope I can find what I need there. I don't know how much luck you will have finding them at a dealer. The Maverick rear ends are popular because they are one of the narrowest made.

Had the same problem but your local Ford dealer can still get everything you need ( or they did for mine with no problem ) and yes 70's era Maverick.

If you're shopping in a salvage yard or craigslist and other classifieds, early V8 Mustangs and Mustang II's use the 8" also.

I just went to my shop to see if I still had a pair of those e-brake levers but it appears they were either trashed or swap meeted. I only have a couple of 'punkins' with 2.79 and 3.00 gears and a 9" with 3.70's left to get rid of someday.

Most Granada's and even the lowly Pinto's used the 8" rear. Also, an early 9" had the same arrangement as well and, if not mistaken 10" x 1.75 brakes which may also work. Ford was not especially innovative in the '50s '60s and '70s between model driveline hardware

Carquest found a set of levers for me a few years ago - did you try NAPA?

Will stop at a local Ford Dealer tomorrow. After that, I'll try NAPA then Carquest.

Just an update...
It took me a little longer to get over to my local Ford dealer, but I finally made it and they tell me that they can get all the parts I'm missing for the E-Brake, I'll be stopping there again tomorrow (have to pre-pay before they order them).
If you want I can list the Ford part numbers so if anybody else is in this situation, you can just walk into your local Ford dealer and tell them what to order.

List 'em - a lot of guys have found that the 8" is an excellant alternative to the more expensive 9" for a street run car - and is capable of handling 400Hp
