65 biascayne OEM wiring question

I am currently working on the firewall wiring harness on my 65 biscayne and have some problems with the factory wiring versus what my schematic shows.
First, I have extra wires for my windshield washer pump (one that comes through the plug on the fire wall (part of the harness) which I had labeled "WW Pump" (also shown on my schematic) so I know that is where it came from. I also have another 3-wire cable that comes through the firewall by itself and has two connectors on it for a total of 5-terminals that mates up perfectly with the washer pump.

Next I have a wire for my heater blower motor which goes to what looks like the horn relay in appearance except it sits atop my AC box on the passenger side firewall. Here, my schematic says it goes to the blower motor and thats it. What I have are several other wires going in several different directions. What is this "relay" looking thing and what are these other wires for?

I am short on time so I will get more specific if I get some response. Hopefully there are other classic '65 chevy (and others: imp, bel, caprice, and other yrs) that can help. Thanks all!!

You said the relay is on top the A/C box. Is it green?? the wire to the blower should be orange and a black ground wire. I don't recall where all the wires go on that side of the car but if you have the diagram (factory) you should be able to figure it out. If you don't have the factory dia. I would sugest you get an assembly manual or find someone that does. I beleave the A/C clutch wire is there also.

The "relay" was painted over but I dont think that it was green. Natural metal color I think. My schematic show a black-orange going to the heater blower which is correct
The other connector on the relay has three wires:
1. RED, to a 30A fuseable link and then to ...??
2. BLUE, which goes to a connector mounted on the housing the holds my AC condensor (this is a three prong plug and I dont know what its for or where the other two wires are supposed to go)
3. BLACK (or purple?? it was dark)...can remember where that goes

fudge...I always post when I am short on time....I will try to get a pic posted later today and maybe that will help a little more.

BTW: the schematic I am using was found on google image search "1965 biscayne"

I'm not sure but the 3 prong plug should be the A/C relay and high speed fan.

I don't understand the problem. If you have the wireing diagram what is the problem I have one here in front of me and unless your is unreadable I don't understand the questions. Maybe I'm not getting it.

It does not include the "four seasons" wiring that is shown in your diagram.
I just gave it (your diagram) a cursory glance but it appears to show just exactly what has been puzzling me for the past few days. Going to investigate a little further...

That takes care of a lot of loose ends (literally).
I still have extra wires on my ww washer (hopefully the next pic will post properly also). You can see in the top one that two connectors mate up perfect with the five spade lugs on the washer pump and motor. In the second picture is the black-yellow wire that was removed about ten monthes ago which I was smart enough to label (which is also in my schematics). So six wires altogether, and five spade terminals?? CF?

OK the first pic. the three wires on the left are for the fan speed resistor the part on the right is the relay. Yout wipers go just like you have them 2 wires to 2 spades 3 wire to 3 spade if you look around now I'm trying to remember but the single wire IF ITS BLACK is a groung there should be a spade for that also.

its black-yellow (yellow stripe) and comes directly from the fuse block.

I wish i had my camera right now. I have a 66 chevy impala with a small block.

The engine bay looks just like mine only my wiring harness is a brand new HEI setup from American Autowire.

I can get a friend to take pictures for me so I can post what I've got here if it's any help.

You must have been having a nightmare...

Okay...my wiring is going well aside from the fact that the more I look at it, the more questions I have. I just replaced my resistance-wire all the way back to the ignition switch and have a question about the ground terminal.
The switch has five terminals...bat, sol, acc, ign, and gnd.

OFF: No continuity
ON: continuity from BATT to IGN, ACC
START: continuity from BATT to SOL (cant remember if IGN and ACC still have continuity in this position)
ACC: continuity from BATT to ACC

I cannot find any position where the GND terminal rings out to any other terminal. It does not go to the case. In fact, my schematic shows it goes out and splits off to the temp sending unit and the temp idiot light in the dash.

What gives? Is this a dead end or is my ignition switch not funcitoning properly?
btw: I drove this car one time (when I bought it) to my house and proceeded to yank the motor so I do not know what worked and what didn't as far as the electrical system, indicator lights, etc...

I'll have to go look in the book but why would you want the groung to have continuity to anything wouldn't that indicate a short????

That is what I am trying to figure out. It's definitely a stock configuration but it appears, from the continuity checks and all, that it is just a dead end wire. I dont understand why the terminal would be there, with a wire connected no less, and not serve any purpose.

14 purpel wire goes to?? Sure its nut.saf. sw.
12 red goes to bat
18 black/with purpel stripe goes to - side of gauages
20 dark green goes to temp light +
14 brown ??
24 brown with white strip ??
The wires that have ? behind them just show as going int loom. If you need I'll look farther.

You are right on the money Charlie. Those browns, if I recall, one of them goes to the fuse box, the other goes to the connector for the dash (the loom?). That still dont explain the function of that green wire and that "dead" terminal on my ingnition switch.
The general feeling I am getting is that everything is hunky dory as far as the wiring goes. I may have a bad ignition switch though. I will contact the guy I bought it from and ask if there was any problems with the dash lights and/or find another ignition switch and ohm it out to see how it compares with mine. That terminal ought to do something in at least one of the key positions.

Green goes to temp light. If your going to check the ign.sw. with a continuity tester. remove the wires from the terminals, but lable them first.
