Master Cylinder Problem

Another question i just ran into was the brake light.. I (bieng 20 years old) dont have a lot of experience with working on brake systems this old. I know that the brake light warning system on this car is probably very simple. The light is on, stays on, and doesnt come off. I checked all of the lines and slave cylinders for leaks theyre all fine. I assume that the problem with the brakeing is probably from air in the lines or a bad master cylinder? I'm also not very accustomed to playing with the brake boost and wanted to know if these have problems, i just wanted to get some info before i start tearing the master cylinder apart thanks.

It would be easier to replace the master cyl. than rebuilding it. Besides if you have brakes the light has nothing to do with them. the break light sw I think is under the dash near the top of the break pedal.

hello to yo. if i understude this right and you have a brake light on in the dash and it won't go off, you might try this and see if it will help. bleed the brakes starting at the rt rear then the lt rear then the rt front then the lt front then the master. after you you get to the master have someone pump the brakes and bleed the lines very slowly and if the light goes out have the other person tell you when this happens and tighten the line at that point. you may have to do this acouple of times to get the light to go out and either side of the master may have to be done.( sounds like you may have a master not centered. hope this works for you, good luck
