Model T doors.
As some of you may have noticed, I have been collecting 26/27 Model T Ford bodies and parts. I have 3 pairs of coupe/2dr sedan doors and 3 front doors from 4dr sedans. On 2 pairs of the coupe doors and all of the 4 door doors, the center hinge is just above the body molding. But on the 2door sedan that I bought, the doors for it have the center hinge right in the body molding section. Was this a differance between the 26 and 27 or what? The doors fit perfectly otherwise and have the same dimensions. What gives?

Somthing about "The Improved Ford" was going on in that time frame I don't have info on which was first but there were many body changes in the 26/27 models which started in the 25 model. From what I have they say that the first years colors were made avaliable for bodies but fenders and truckes remained black. Hope this helpsCharlie

That does give me a little insight as to why they are different. Now I would like to know which is which? As a Hot Rodder, its not a great concern since I can modify it to fit. But if I sell off some of these parts, I would like to know what they are so as not to misrepresent what I may be selling.

I think you'll have to find another person with a thicker book.
FYI I got that info from Standard Catalog of "American Cars 1805-1942"
First edition First printing 1985. Lots of info.Last edited by cffisher; 09-16-2006 at 07:10 PM.

I emailed modelthaven.com and they advised me that the doors with the center hinge above the body molding are 1925 T. But the good news is that they line up perfect otherwise on my 27 coupe and by the time I get done chopping them, I wont need to use the center hinge.....

T coupes not only look great chopped, but are about the easiest chops in existance because of being so square. This new body you scored looks pretty solid, but I thought your old one looked ok too.
