Vin #'s

I have a 1966 chevy impala 4 door and my identification number that is on my registration and door plate does not come up.
Everytime I enter it it says it needs to be 17 characters.

all cars manufactured after about Sept 1980 have 17 digit VINs

the tracking systems dont track the older, non-standard
numbers

how do i search for my number then. Cause my insurance is saying its not valid?

where are you searching? If the insurance clowns are searching on the web,
they should know better.....You have a title don't you? Your state DMV
should be able to verify the VIN

If it's one of the secretaries at your insurance company (the one where
you look into her eyes and all you see is hair roots), tell her to contact
someone higher up who has a clue.

:LOL: yes i will do that. Im waiting for my title to come back through mail. I had just transfered into my name.

That VIN tracks as follows:
1 = Chevrolet
64 = Impala V-8
69 = 4 Door
6 = 1966 Model Year
S = St. Louis Plant
271611 = Production sequence

Year One is the place to look for old Chevrolets.
