I have a 23 T Bucket with a 350 chevy motor and tranny. The Car has a small B@M blower with a 3800 stall. I am having trouble with the car running hot. I've had the radiator boiled out and the thermostat is not sticking. Fan is about 11//2 to 2 inches from the radiator with no shroud. Engine is running about 220 -230 at hiway speeds. I am wanting to cool it down as it will not stay cool enough in traffic. Does have a small blower cam and edelbrock 750 cfm. Any help appreciatied.
even that close I'd run some kind of shroud on it. also have ya checked to be sure the radiator hoses aren't collapsing, and what kind of belt set up are you running???? if its a serpintene belt set up, do you have the reverse flow water pump on it or do you have a reverse flow pump on an old V-belt type set up, cause if you have the wrong one on it that also could be the problem. also what kind of fan ya got on it, if its one of those flex fans, I personally would throw it away and use an electric fan on it or a direct fan set up........joeQuote:

I wish I could answer those questions. The guy I bought it from didn't have much info. I am running pretty much straight anti freeze. I was told the stall was to big at 3800 and would cause overheating due to slippage. The fan is about 17" and is steel. The temp around here right now is about 70. The gauge will stay around 220 at highway speeds and stays below 200 when idling at about 1100 rpm. I think the blower is a 174 B&M. I am new to the hot rod scene, so I'm learning.

I like to add what Streets said. check your timing, running lean will you run hot. might have to rejet the carb.
If your running hot on the highway it dosn't matter what fan you have. Beacuse the air is forced through the radiator. But like street says check the radiator, might be to small. What temp was it running before you added the blower?
Just tow last notes, might check the radiator cap and see what pound pressure it is. If you run under a certain pressure then you system is pressureized.
Also you might have a air pocket in the system.
I agree with Streets also. Sounds like either too small of a radiator or a clogged radiator.
Hey guys, I drained all the anti freeze and replaced with water and some stay cool made by gunk. It has ran 180 to 195 all day. Temp outside is around 70. Thanks for all the tips.
