What is a "drag link bit" ???

Adjusting my front end. Manual calls for adjusting the pitman arm to relay rod with a drag link bit. What is this tool? Thanks...

what are you working on? might be the socket that looks like a big screw driver, that you adj. the spring tension on the pitman arm ball, on older cars. :confused:

"back in the day" every tool set you bought came with that big screw driver socket and I bet 1/2 the people that had one didn`t know what is was for.Was there ever any other uses for it ?? Just curious

the socket i'm talking about, thats the only thing i know it was used for. GM steering i know of. the blade of the screw driver end was about 1" wide and 1/8 " thick. if your working on the old GM front end thats probably what is it.

Thanks Mike, that's exactly it. Im gonna get one when the snap on guy comes this week. Actually climbed under there last night and used an old fat blade driver. Thanks...

Some trucks use the same style joint,you should see the sizes I ended up having to buy,they're 3/4 drive,just a curiosity now that I'm retired.Maybe I should start an odd-ball tools post, the one who figures out correctly what it's for gets it free and i get it out of my way, ha ha. Hank

I remember back in the 60's a friend of mine was a truck mechanic he had to buy special wrenches all the time for jobs on semi's none of which were cheap.

I had to look in a dark corner of my tool box - and lo and behold, I still have one that probably hasn't been used in 30 - 35 years. Mine is a ~1/8x3/4 Wright Tool P/N S143.
There used to be a big Snap-On there too, but it seems to have disappeared.**)

there was one for the car, a bigger one for the 1-1/2 ton truck. i think most folks used something else to turn it with anyway. it was a lot of them ridding down the road loose, and nobody stoped to check then. 1/2 turn of slack in the steering wheel was okey back then. :CRY:**)
