Fitting terms
Ok, I'm am getting so confused on these fittings. Flared fittings, O ring fittings, AN fittings, pipe fittings.
K, so I know what FPT and MPT is. So, what does NPT stand for?? And, what size NPT would fit a 3/4" FPT??? What the hell size is a #6 compared to a #8 AN fitting?? Someone enlighten me please!!!

AN is measured in 1/16ths. Example. a -4 AN fitting is 1/4", a -8 is 1/2", -3 is 3/16", -2 is 1/8". Simple enough?

Dean, I have been living your life daily. I got AN figured out as well with the 16s thing. But building a Cobra with Smith's guages, I also threw British Pipe thread into the mix. My head still hurts. :CRY: The Aeroquip guy in town is going to send me a Season's Greeting card and I didn't set foot in there until Sept.
P.S. Pegasus Racing has some real oddball adaptors.

Dean,
NPT = National Pipe Taper
Here's a link to an aircraft oriented site that has several reference charts that might come in handy, not only for the fittings and cross referencing, but for a few other items.
