    It is a 1965 Chrysler Newport 2DHT w/383.
    You should see the ridiculous discharge I get when I turn on the A/C!!

    I DON'T REMEMBER ANY ONE PROBLEM WITH THE CHRYSLER'S , back then. do you know the reg. is bad or is your bat. going dead, you're putting on a new reg., charging the bat. and its ok for another few weeks. if your bat. is low the alt. won't charge 100% so it could be the bat.

    Surely you jest! The factory alternator on that car is only rated at 46 amps
    I wish I could find a bigger one.
    Though when I took it to the auto parts store for testing, they said it was fine.
    I do think it is the battery. Now I just have to save my nickels, dimes, and some aluminum cans to get another battery.
    Then I have to get yet another voltage regualtor.
    Wish I could find a nice high output alternator with internal regulation like I used to have on my Chevy.

    thats about all any of them had in 65. a bad bat. shouldn't burn up your reg. why not put a built in reg. gm alt on the car. if you can mount it, it will work just like it does on a gm car. helped a guy hook up one on a 63 289 ford not long ago. works great.
