Body line tech
Alright, let me say right from the start that I expect to be reamed and pilloried by the metal working crowd for this post. I have been dicking around with hotrods all my life, and sometimes on old, totally thrashed sections of vintage body panels, the body lines, (or "reveals" as they are known) are tolally gone, flattened, or beyond repair. They can be formed in (gasp), filler, but it is somewhat difficult. The amazing "body line restoring tool" shown here is very simple to make. Take a standard plastic bondo spreader, and use you shears to cut out an opening as close to the shape of your missing body line as possible. Mix up a ball of your favourite play dough, and with a bit of carefull spreader wealding, you can recreate body lines very accurately. This (like anything) takes a bit of practice, but is surpisingly effective. This WILL NOT make you a Ron Covell, but with a minimum of sanding and a bit of primer over top, the only person that will know is you and me, and I won't tell!!!!Old guy hot rodder
Dammit, another good ol boy gone. Condolence to the family. RIP Mike
