14 Bolt FF Differential
Is a 14 bolt FF corporate differential worth keeping in a 3/4 ton truck. If so are there a whole lot of options for posi units, gears, etc. I think it has 4:11 opens in it now. It's in a 73 Cheyenne 3/4 ton camper special. I drive the truck on weekends for fun.

A corporate 14 bolt is extemely popular with the off road guys as a cheap axle if they cant afford a Dana 60. Posi units, Detroit lockers, air lockers, etc are everywhere for this thing. Go to Randy's Ring and Pinion site for more info. What would you replace it with? It is a strong axle.

I was thinking about going with something lighter. I know that if you do the conversion from drum to disc brakes on these axles you loose around 100 pounds. I've just bought a set of aluminum H2 wheels for it because I think that they will be lighter then the steel wagon wheels that are on it now plus they are easier to take care of. The wagon wheels are painted and chipping and they look horrible.

Later model 14 boltz have disc brakes......look at a late
model Chev pu and see if they mount easily....
