At least 10 years later probably. You should get the casting numbers off the block, and the stamped number off the machined pad on the block side, go to a site such as www.mortec.com and decipher the numbers to verify for sure.Quote:

yep that's a 194-250 engine, the valve cover for the engine that it would normally have, a ( 216 I6 ) has 2 valve cover studs on the top of the cover, this 1 has many studs around the sides. the heat riser for the exhaust manifold dosn't look right for the 216-325 faimily but I can't see it well in the pic ither, and the valve cover looks like the 194-250 valve cover.
Is that 194-250 or 194-230? I think the 250 had the two bolt valve cover. I had a 66 chevy that had a 230 that looked identical to this one, unless it came out of a car and is a 194. My guess would be 230.
looks like a 250 to me had one in my 1st nova. 1974 vintage was mine
looks like a "newer"motor than the original '51
195-250 I agree
'51 valve cover was more rounded
hank
It looks like a gm 235 or 250 engine
Check casting numbers on the block to be sure.
70 something 250  don't think the 50 model had a choke like that. **)
Its a 194/230/250, can't tell which from the outside looks. Could also be a 292 truck engine, have to see the other side to tell. The 292 is a higher deck engine, the side cover is deeper.
I agree with R Pope's last comment. If we saw the other side it would tell us if it was a 292 or 250. The 292 had the distributor closer to the front of the engine while the 250 is closer to the center.
