Double master cylinder ala Milner coupe
Okay, a while back we had some discussion about the double master cylinder that's pictured below on the Milner coupe. This is designed originally for operating a single circuit brake system and a hydraulic clutch from a common reservoir. Since that thread actually started out as a discussion of a Man-a-fre intake I thought I'd start a new thread to make it easier to find later if need be.
Thanks to Street Rodder magazine there's some more info available. As pointed out in the other thread, these were used on GM trucks of the late '50's, early '60's. From the article we learn that they have a three bolt mounting flange, and 1 1/8" cylinder bores. These are still available new in Raybestos p/n MC34404. A similar design was also available on International trucks, but with four bolt mounting flange, and 1" cylinder bores. No part number for these was given. Also, the matching clutch slave cylinder for the GM unit is available new, Raybestos P/N SC19097.
It should be pointed out that most folks like the added safety of a dual circuit brake system that this master cylinder doesn't provide unless both sides were used for brakes (but reservoir capacity may be insufficient, you do the math).
