Mopar Gas tank
A buddy of mine has a 62 pylmouth belv. couldn't find a float sending unit for a 62. and had to go with one out of a 65 and now his fuel guage only goes up to half full all the time when the tank get past half empty it starts to work. My question is can the restinces be off between the gauge and the sending unit? can a restistor be used to help or any ideas on this Thanks Bud

Well, if it start working after half empty, I would think that it would not be a difference in resistances, seeing as how the resistor is not effected by the gasoline. I would think it is a mechanical problem.

Thanks for your reply we have tried setting the float over and over comes out the same every time is there a way that we can check the swing of the fuel gauge ? was wondering about the fuel sender because didn't think the 62 and65 was the same Thanks Bud

Stupid question but yall may not have thought about this yetm did the guage work before the irignal sending unit went bad?
-
We don't know pulled it out of a field he got it was why i wondered if there was a way to check it? Thanks Bud

when you unplug the sender the gauge should go all the way to "E" and then when you ground the hot wire (at the tank) that should make to go to full, if it don't there is something wrong with the gauge.

The guage needs to be recalibrated to match the resistance of the sending unit when the float is in the full position.

thanks guys good info any idea on where to find out how to calibrate the gauge? Thanks Bud
