Someone just offered me a 425 low mile (I imagine they mean under 100k) nailhead fer the Plymouth! Or an "A" family clean SB. Now a Dodge SB would be the easier fit, BUT the nailhead is genius! Would like to hear some opinions if nuthin else, I have a lot of tech standpoint on this already, just want to hear what people think. Streets and any other SBC (BBC for that matter) will refrain from Cheby sympathizing. :LOL:
Save the nail head for the future. That's an engine that deserves to be in an open environment where it can be seen like Ibuildems roadster.
A Mopar small block would be great in your Plymouth, although more costly to rod than an Cheb.
The good thing about the Plymouth is I have no intention of rodding it,. Its just a cruiser that does a lot of freeway miles.
Got to agree with Bob, should be against the law to put a hood over a nailhead !!!!
The last nailhead I saw had a hand-fabbed intake with six Strombergs...all with forward-facing scoops.
He made some "lime-light"-styled headers with caps and downpipes.
It was a Model A Vicky with NO hood.
BTW, the engine was painted "Industrial Cummins Green".

Hey Rix, Ior anyone. Back in 67-68 my brother Jim St. Clair (now deceased) built a funny car named Lime Fire based on a 1967 Barracuda. I'm in the middle of a research project trying to document his cars and his racing history in behalf of his kids and grandkids, none of whom ever saw him race or one of his race cars. Have you ever heard of his car? And do you have any idea whether the name of the Lime Fire headers from Sanderson have any connection with his car?Quote:

Mike, the limefire name on that style of header comes from the name of a '32 roadster built by Pete Chapouris in the early '80's. His roadster was painted a brilliant lime green color, and was flamed, thus the name. Even though this style of header dates way back, mostly used by lakes racers for a method of quick open exhaust access, Pete's car has come to be the identification for this style. If his name is not familiar to you, he was the Pete in "Pete & Jake" hot rod parts, and is currently the major domo at SoCal Speedshop. A very nice, and obviously talented, guy as well.
