I have posted before about the 51 Ford F-1 P-U that I am building. I bought it for $200. I bought a junk Chevelle for another $200 with a older rebuilt 350/T350 combo. The E&T are now in the truck. The junk Chevelle body was scraped for $102. So I now have about $350 in the truck including the small parts and rattle cans that were used. My goal is to have a fully functional parts chaser for about $1000. The truck had a wood flatbed with it. It was very well built (design-wise) and I plan to duplicate it. However, sitting next to the pasture fence for decades obviously took its toll on the wood and its not worth cutting up for the wood stove. This truck will be used as a work truck. Is there a good choice for the type wood to use. What are your thoughts on treated lumber? At the end of the day the truck will be HR Black with red wheels and small Ford caps. 5 years from now it will likely be painted two tone red on bottom and white on top of cab. So while it may be a work truck, I do want it to be attractive. I am thinking about putting a sheet angle edge with holes for the stake sides on it. Any suggestions or pics on that idea?
