I have a Chevy 350 with a 4 speed manual tranny out of a 82 3/4 ton pickup. I just put everything back together but when I turn it over the starter sounds like the starter is just hitting on something and the motor just isnt turning over. Could this be because the clutch fork is out of place??
The solenoid isn't making electrical connection inside, the drive kicks in but the motor doesn't spin. Poor connection, internal or external.
i just picked the starter up today and it was doing the same thing with the old starter. Can I assume its a problem with the wiring or a poor connection on the battery?

Maybe? I checked and its definatly getting power. The starter is working, I think its hitting on the flywheel. I tried putting a washer first on the outter bolt then took it out and put it on the inner bolt. Both times it did the same thing :confused: :CRY: . the last starter did the same thing after i took it out and put it in but it was the same starter out of it originally, I dunno what to do here im about at my wits end here.Quote:
