Hello, my question is hopefully an easy one. Does DOM steel tubing need heat treating after welding? If it does how is it accomplished? Thanks for any help.

from my experance, i have not had to "normalize" it, just be sure not to heat it up to much, small areas at a time has worked best for me.
I would say no... as long as your not welding on it constantly. Take your time and avoid welding too big of an area. What are you welding? a roll cage? tube frame?
No.
Commercial street rod frame builders don't do it and it's not a problem for the home builder.
I am welding a exoskeleton on a 1982 Jeep CJ-5. This will be a first for me. Thanks for the info.
DOM tubing as has to do with how they form the tube, not the alloy. DOM is made from 1020 or 1026 depending on wall thickness, nether needs to be heat treated after welding.
Thank you for the info.
