I've tried searching the web for this with no luck. I'm going to swap out the differential in my Ford 8 inch this week-end, how much gear lube does it hold? The rear-end is from a 1975 Maverick.
Thanks
Pat

i like to fill them up until it runs out the plug hole pat, then you know for sure. i had a 9" in my round track car one time that you couldnt get to the check plug real easy so i went by the book and i read the book wrong, burnt up 2 dif. before i took the time to stick my finger in the hole and check it and it was a 1/2 pt. off. 3-31/2 pts. is a good start. the book says 4 pts. pat. 1974 to 1977. Maverick and comets
I have found the fluid starts to run out at just over a quart. It really depends on how much of the fluid you will keep slinging out with the ring gear as to life of the rear. If you are going to drive it hard alot put a little extra insurance in. Too much and u will have grease in your brakes.
Thanks guys! :3dSMILE:
