Ed,
Try this site, they have all the info you need to do the swap:
www.v8s10.org
Also try:
www.jagsthatrun.com
It will tell you what parts you need.
thanks for the tip iam a new at hot rod do think its better
to buy crate motor or have am block build from ground up
depending on what u want in a motor, but most the time it's cheaper to buy a crate motor from the dealer. they are about $1300-1500 & up depending on how much horsepower ur looking for....joe
id go to the junk yard and get a low mi. one, with all the brackets and stuff. you'll be glade youy did.
and if ya want to buy the V8 swap book that jags that run sells, i got one i'll sell ya :) ......joe
I've got a 03 blazer that i'm putting a LT1 into, You'd be amazed at how cheap you can find one,, check E-bay, i've seen low milers go for under 1k,, how do you beat that considering the gas milleage... just my opinion.
this has been so helpful to makeing my mind up to the ones
that have put v8 in s10 on how much money you put in to your
hot rod with paint ect...
i can buy a good used late model lt1, wiring harness computer, motor mounts, exhaust, rad, and fuel pump, and put it in a s10 for less than 2000.00. it will look good and run good. with cold ac.Quote:

so mr lt1s10 your own opinon you think that lt1 is the best
i've had good luck with the 1993 lt1. it depends on if you want the EFI or not. i wanted the EFI, that 2000.00 to put one in is based on being able to do all the work yourself, getting most of the stuff you need off of a donner car. for someone just getting started and wanted a EFI motor i would go with tune port. if you're gonna put a carb. on it, it makes no dif. no how.Quote:

if it is going to be a daily driver then a late model EFI small block is the way to go. If it is a weekend warrior or a race truck then maybe you should consider a big block. It wasn't much harder to install than a SBC and has much more potential for BIG power.
PUTTING A BIGGER MOTOR DID YOU HAD TO GET NEW REAR END
AND NEW SHOCK AND SPINGS
I happen to have a stronger rear under it, but limited traction will probably help make a stocker live. I have basically stock suspension. The front is lowered with beltech 2" drop spindles and 3" drop springs. The rear is dropped with Beltech 4" drop leaves and 3" DJM steel blocks. All I have for a traction aid is Lakewood slapper bars made for the s-series. These parts are all made for stock S-series vehicles.
how hard would be to put a 5.3 CHEVY VORTEC ENGINE in my
00 chevy s10 2.2 i seen them on ebay for under 1700.00 with
o miles
a 5.7 vortec motor would be nice you can get a low mileage one from a junkyard for like $600
Ed,
Did you go to this site?
www.v8s10.org
This site is dedicated to the S-10 owner that wants to put a SBC or BBC in his Blazer, S-10, or Jimmy.
All the questions you've asked were already covered in great detail on this site.
What engines will fit and what parts to buy and where, are all covered. It even covers transmissions, and how to modify the frames for them.
I used this site because I put a 327 SBC in a 84 S-10 frame under a 52 Ford pick-up. For me, the 327 and TH350 with a 9" output shaft was a bolt in, and I didn't have to cut the driveshaft. Without the info from this site I'd probably be outside still trying to figure out how to make it all fit with the wrong mounts. There are inexpensive aftermarket parts made just for the SBC, BBC, TH350, TH400, TH700 swap.
Like I said in a previous reply. everything you need for this swap, including aftermarket vendors and prices are on this site.
how much hp can you get out lt 1 motor
as much as any other 350.Quote:
