I would like to have a high boy, but from what I can see there is no way I can get it street legal in PA. Anybody know anything about this? There has to be some way around the inspection. Thanks,
CHAZ

The only way is to run the car thru inspection with the fenders on and then pull them afterwards. Of course, you may end up with plenty of tickets from the local police....
I was doing a little checking on titling laws and the YOM license plate provisions. The inspections for hot rods is clearly spelled out not only that it needs fenders, but the angle to which the fenders have to be before they end (no 'bicycle' type fenders either).
The inspection forms are actually able to be downloaded off of the state website. I attached a .pdf copy of it.
I've also attached the street rod fact sheet. You need to include four color photos of the car at the time of inspection to register the car.
Get some trailer fenders, make them easilly removable and no visible mounting hardware. if you'r driving around town where everybody knows you, run them off, highway driving, put them on, car show, pull them off when you get there if you drive to the show.
I have been trying to find out if I can have a '32 highboy in PA. At first I thought I had to have fenders, but now I have heard they loosened that requirement. Does anyone know/know where I can find out? Thanks,
CHAZ"

wow was just going to the garage to make more fender brackets and hope to have one on today. what a hassle or locating them in 3D and matching too.
had to cut off 1 1/2" off the back and split another to add width(weld two together)
THEN a motorcycle guy said I coulda got the right width motorcycle fender (probably 12x the $$$$$ tho)
if u still wanna go to NorthernTool.com like #25 each, few different sizes. maybe just order one to check it first
asked for advise here about a month ago an some dude drew me something for bracket, but that was for drum brake attach. he wasn't kidding about ~1 1/4X 1/4" thick bracket though.
I reinforce the ~ 1/8" fender with 1/8" strap, use excess to approximate where my actual bracket will bolt to. then try 3/16 thick flat piece with two bolts holding (read : washers for spacing). then ANOTHER bracket from the upper ball joint big bolt. damn what a hassle 6 pieces per wheel but the only way i could figure it out to offset the brackets and space them properly and semi/cleanly.
HAd to do this cause my fenders were close width, not allowing for the curve of the tire clearing the bracket, so bolt/spacer washers.
but, you gotts do what u gotta do.
What do the people in PA do that bought Plymouth Prowlwrs??
Think I'd just move, I hate fenders!!!!!
Prowlers are factory built fenderless, all the old cars were built with fenders, so being the prowler is factory fenderless, it was not modified to be fenderless, a Model A or such would be considered modefied, that is a modification that is illegal in PaQuote:

Prowlers have fenders, so I guess they're not a problem in Pa.........
I'v seen prowlers W/o front fenders also tho, I think they were/ are built both ways, unless some people pull the fronts off to be more open wheeled.
The front fenders unbolt quite easily.
There is the reason I have seen a few W/O fenders, 1 was even at a local dealership.Quote:

Open hoods and fenderless cars are now leagel in Pa as of 1/1/05.
The only catch is you have to have a Street Rod plate and once you get that it comes with a new title that will be a "R" title but that is no biggie.
This change in the law is what changed my mind and I am now building a High Boy
