65 Ford Galaxie 500 Radiator and GasTank
Does the 65 Ford Galaxie 500 w/ a 289 use the same radiator as a 65 Ford Fairlane w/ a 289? One source says yes and another says no.
Also do the 65 Galaxie and 66 Custom use the same gas tank? I can find a source for the 66 tank but it does not list the 65 as being compatible.
Thanks
Mark

hey mark i am just taking a wild guess at this as i have a 66 custom but have never directly compared it with a galaxy.
i think the rads are the same but i am not shure of the fuel tank.
did you find a parts car ???? and are trying to see if it will swap over

If you send dimensions I can measure the tank in my 66 (galaxie)
Other than trim I think customs are galaxie's. most 65 (other than body) an 66 stuff is interchangeable. I think.

Custom's are Fords base model, they are galaxies without fancy trim and a couple other things were diffrent. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

I doubt the fairlanes and galaxies use the same radiator but I have a 65 galaxie 289 radiator that seems to be good that I wont use,I heard the 66 to 68 tanks will work but I think there is something that has to be modified as I think I heard somewhere that the 66 to 68 tank has a bigger capacity then a 65. I have a 65 Galaxie that I bought minus radiator and engine/trans. I also bought a 66 Custom off Ebay with a 289/C4 to swap into the 65. However the radiator in the 66 turned out to be no good. I located a company online that lists a 65 Fairlane radiator for about $100.00 cheaper than anyone else. The dimensions that they list seem to fit mine. But before I buy, I wanted comfirm with someone who owns a 65 Fairlane.
The gas tank in the 65 also turned out to be really nasty. The local shop won't fix it. I am looking at a shop that uses the "Renu" process. Any advice? I found a tank for a 66 Galaxie online new for 299.00. But again, I am not sure if it will fit the 65.

Sorry forgot to list radiator dimensions.
Core dimensions: 20 1/2 W
17 1/2 H
Overall dimensions: 22 1/2 Wide(to include mounting flange)
22 H
Both the inlet and outlet are on the right side.
Trans cooler integrated into the bottom tank.
