Gee did you call DMV yet??? They are the ones that will be doing the inspection and who you have to make happy.

I live in the same general area you do, vehicle requirements change from time to time and unfortunatly are can sometimes be left to individual inspector interpretation. Using the book and having the car pass the first time will be a lot cheaper and less aggravating than having to redo things.

As another resort, check the local library. Chances are if you can't afford the $20 or so for the book you really can't afford to build the car.
