My 34 (which I am very proud of) has a 305 in it and it runs perfect.
It gets great gas mileage and when I lift the hood, it looks as good as any other small block Chevy.
It burns the tires off when I want them to also.

well while i admire the 305 as a good sturdy daily driver, i won't use it as a drag motor...when i get around to a power train in whatever car i build, whether its a drag car or just a bad mother hot rod, it wont be smaller than 383 and it wont be bigger than oh i dunno 502 or 510 somewhere in that area...That leaves a lot of stuff...I also want to keep my hp:weight ratio in the small numbers..like ideally it would be about 1hp:between 5 and 9 lbs. that would make a 400 hp motor in a 2000 lbs car... i can run between 2000 lbs and 3600 lbs. on a 400 hp motor. that is a rather good ratio...my sponsor said that i need to stay in single digit hp:weight ratio and if that isnt possible then VERY low double digits...but when you do the math, its not hard to stay in the single digits.
My ideal setup on a drag car would be a blown, alcohol injected 540, with a powerglide behind it...that's just my thinking...the guy that im trying to get sponsorship from used to run a naturally aspirated alcohol injected 540 in a Vega and it was a mid 5 second 1/8th mile car. Ive seen its time sheets.
Thanks for this, you just brought back a lot of memorys. I wasn't quite as smart as you, I worked on that setup for over year then gave up. Ran great when there were no cloudsQuote:

Took me 'bout 2-3 weeks to finally give up and go back to a carb. Problem solved.
