Wiring issues, GM HEI with one wire altenator
I have a Chevy 350 with a standard HEI ignition and a one wire alternator.
Problem!! No matter how I wire up the coil (tried directly from the ignition switch or thru a kill switch ) the engine continues to run......
I assume that the alternator is providing the power.
Does anyone have access to a schematic of a one wire alternartor system? I am updating from a points system that used a ballast resistor.

then that would mean your alt. wire and ign. wire it connected some where then, looks like to me you need to just run the 1 alt wire stright off of the bat. hot all the time. you have your ign. hot all the time wire on the same post as your alt. hot all the time wire, or the alt. wire is hooked to the ign sw. and you cant do that. run a 12 ga. wire off of your bat. to the alt. big post hot all the time should work.
