disc caliper parking brake

Iowa DOT Inspector says I NEED a parking/emergency brake on my homebuilt F1 car with Olds Toronado drivetrain now in the rear.
What cars have disc brake calipers with built in parking brakes so I can compare before I actually buy to see what might work best. Have searched on the net but can only find 89 Corvette maybe uses this.

Ford explorer brakes have internal parking brakes. Many street rod suppliers make conversion kits to adapt these to different rear axle types. I'm not sure they make them for your setup, though.

I'm guessing you don't have a driveshaft. If you do, however, you can use these:

uhmmm, GM would be preferred. Also, year/models would be good for the dummy at the parts desk, and this dummy.
I know thye weren't the greatest, but the best I can do.

My 93 Vette has disk brakes with e-brake. I suspect most of the C-4 series has them too.

The cad. Elderodo had rear disc with parking brakes. You might have to fab or mod a mount for it. A lot will depent on the rotor thickness and size, offset and caliper mounting spacing. Good luck

I'm thinkin' you'll have to fabricate an inboard disc brake arrangement. It would be a matter of fabbing up a mount attached to the output flange at the differential to bolt the rotor to and then another mount for the caliper to bolt to the differential housing. Since there is some "slide" in the halfshaft, it should accomodate the extra width of a thin rotor without making a problem for you at the balljoints.

As I've thought about this for a little while, I think I'd be shopping at a motorcycle boneyard for a nice, thin front rotor and the handlebar-mounted master cylinder. It shouldn't be too tough to mount the cylinder and rig up a floor-mounted pull handle. You should be able to find a plethora of them at any boneyard.

Robot, that's some valuable info. I was gonna get the Eldorado setup for my 8" rear on my coupe. After reading this I think I'll look at the explorer setup next. I got a pickup load of parts now from not researching well enough. You saved me from buyin another pickup.

Ford Ranger pickups have the E-Brake on the caliper. also Rovers,,tc200's and 3500s pre- 1972 for sure.
Any inboard Jaguar setup will have auto adjustable e-brakes on the rear caliper's

'88 and up GM w-bodies (Regal, Grand Prix, Lumina, Cutlass Supreme), some late model Regals, Grand Prix, Olds Alero. Check for Riviera, Eldorado and Toranado ('90 thru '94). If you can find one, look for a set of rear Fiero calipiers - like the late model N and W bodys, they are aluminum.

early to mid eighties eldorado toronado riviera all had rear disc with ebrake late 70s lincoln continental rear disc with ebrake stay away from late 80s early 90s w body rears poor design all the late model mustangs just a thought but subaru had e brake in front calipers so did saab i dont know what front brake setup your running but that might be a solution

purchased a pair of rebuilt 93 vette calipers, doesnt seem to fit the rotors being 1.065" thick, might have to check/get vette rotors to fit first, but thanks
DOT requirements can be a pain in the a**

i evev had checked out driveshaft parking brake, is kinda like the parking brake on a forklift truck, but little room with coil over shocks, trans, etc.
