now Don, most of us know that hydrogen can cause an explosion under the correct conditions, BUT let's face some facts about this story & i quote

The skin of the airship was ignited by electrical discharge from the clouds while docking during an electrical storm. This reaction has been proven chemically for years, and was demonstrated with actual remnants of the Hindenburg sixty years later, which burned as vigorously as on the day of the disaster.
from THIS SITE , yes they be bias on what they say about hydrogen BUT the facts are out there about what ALL the causes could of been w/the Hindenburg && ya have to remember the whole thing WASN'T filled w/hydrogen & what you see burning is the outter shell of the craft.
The Hindenburg would have burned if it had been filled with inert helium gas. Even if the Hindenburg had not been lifted by hydrogen, the ignition of the covering would still have happened, and would then have set ablaze the diesel stores, resulting in the same disaster.
