Hey guys,
here is a shot of the motor mounts/cross member where its hosed. My buddy Matt is welding them up today with the braket in the center for added support. He is very sure he can fix them and make em even better then before. I trust his welding and will post some shots of it all done up.

I have had some drum all around stop very well, but when around water the drums can really give out. no question that the discs are the best the more the better but two in front are fine Ed ke6bnlQuote:

the bucket i am building is kind of a different set up. i took the drivetrain from a nova front suspension and rear springs,rearend and made the rest from there. the nova only had drums on the front so i was kind of worried about stopping this thing. when i was young i h ad the same hind of nova and it actually stopped ok. i think with being quite a bit lighter stopping it shouldnt be a problem.
I was told that a ford pinto disk set up would be good on my truck. I dont think I want to go to disk. I likethe drum. HTey need some work becaue they will catch and pull a bit to the left thena bit to the right but I kinda dig it cause you have to focus when you drive the truck haha ofcourse this is coming from a dude that rides a rigid springer with foot clutch and tank shift.. hah

Kingjess---Take a look at the mount on your turbo 350. It is a big rubber block that insulates the vibration from your transmission and driveshaft from being transmitted to the chassis. Lifting the motor by 1 1/2" to 2" shouldn't hurt anything. Post a picture of your ride---it sounds interesting.-----------incidently, if you had damaged that rubber block, theyr'e less than $20 and easy to replace without removing anything.
brianrupnow , thanx for the info man. Makes me feel better now! I spent part of my day yeaterday replacing and indexing my plugs. Its still got an old points ing but I thnk Ill keep em just because they are working. More then likey were part of the rod when it was built like the plugs were! haha

Kingjess---very nice truck, extremely nice website. If you click on "profile" on one of my posts, it will take you to an area where you can see the posts I have placed here in the last 13 months. I have documented the complete build-up of my roadster pickup, form scratch. There is some good recent coverage of the interior panels. I am on the home stretch now, just doing all the prep work for final paint.

nice ride king jess ,you ride a rigid with tank shift ,i got one too !!!
mid 30s britt excelsior , hand clutch,tank shift,rigid springer,open eat your shoelaces brass flywheel .
just too bad its a depression bike(125 cc engine and about 150 lbs but its still fun to give the kids ride down the street . does about 35 mph on a good day .
i like your site i have been thinking of putting a girl on the extended radiator /cowl on my bucket aka ww2 bomber or fighter plane and that gave me a lot of ideas .

Well I got the cross member all welded up and back in. Got the radiator back in and all that jazz too.
I got finished about 3am this moring with getting everything back together. I started cranking the engine to fire her up but she would crank but not fire. I figured it was 3am so I better leave it alone till morning. Im hoping I didnt mess anything up with the Dist or timing by picking up the motor like I did... Im no good at setting timing.

Well Matt weled up the old cross member - motor mounts for me. Did a hell of a job if I might say so. Big fat beads with pleanty of penitration. These will hold just fine. I also had him add the center peice on the mount for added support.

I grinded down the welds where they need to fit into the frame rails and shot the cross member with some semi gloss.

I figured Id lower the rear end too. Alden adjustable rear end will make it a snap with the fender supports off and the rear lowered about 2 inches. The drivers side rear shock is hosed. Ill need to get new shocks or really tighten them up but for now she is good to go.

last night worked on the inside of the cab abd lining it all with 20g sheet metal. Its getting closer day by day
