I have a 1962 Ford Falcon 2dr and I really want to make this car a beast. It's just a roller now- no engine or trans and I wanna put a 350 in it with a 3spd auto tranny. Is this possible or am I dreaming?

Well, it would be a lot easier with a Ford 302 or a 289 or 260 as the 289/260 engines came stock in some Falcon model's like Sprints, and the 302 is almost the same engine, you could get a kit to put those engines in and they'd fit right in, the 350 i'd be all custom and you might end up having to do work to the shock towers to make a 350 fit, as it is a little wider than the ford engines but it is possible, you would possibly have to widen the shock towers then make custom motor mounts and a custom trans mount and then you could put it in, you'd need to convert to 5 lug and put a 9" ford rear end behind it as the 8" wouldn't take much to snap and being it probably has 2.75 gears, isn't good NE way.
Whichever motor you put in a '62, plan on notching the shock towers for header clearance. A 289/302 Ford would, as Matt said, be a much easier and probably more economical swap. You should also update the front suspension to 5 bolt hubs and disc brakes. A narrowed 9" Ford in the rear with either drum or disc brakes would more than handle the task. Many of the Mavericks had 8" rears with 5 bolt wheels. For just a street car and 8" with 5 bolt wheels will be fine. Slicks, big gears, and ladder bars will take their toll on 8" rears but they will hang in there pretty good if they are set up right.
57=58 ford 9 inch are a bolt in also the 9 inch granada monarch optional 9 inch disc or lincoln versailles fit just get the right factory parts v8 falcons had all diferent parts than the 6 if you have 5 bolt wheels you are in luck also maverick v8 stuff will fit and some 6 mavericks had disk 5 bols set ups also. stay with small block ford it's a lot easier mustang 5.0 after 87 had a narror enough 8.8 rear to fit but were coil springs. you can install the granada, monarch versailles, disc maverick spindles to your falcon parts. the stock v8 falcons had a lot of bump steer when you put your foot in it. Mustang II with biger brakes is a better system and alot of old 65-66 mustang have been changed over.64 mustang sharred a lot of parts witth falcon.
Thanks a whole bunch guys- you've been a lot of help. So the consensus seems to be a 302 with a 9" rear end. I was already planning on doing the front end swap, but I was really un sure on the power train.

I'm a little late on this one. A Ford 302 is an easy drop in with no shock tower mods. You can go to www.falconparts.com for the motor and tranny mounts. Hedman 88400 headers also will work great in the 62. You should upgrade the suspension. The 64-66 Mustang stuff is a direct bolt on and is much beefier than the old 6 cylinder stuff. The Mustang steering linkage will work too except for the cenet link - you'll need a 65 V8 Falcon unit. You can also add a Ford C4 easily. I saw an early Falcon with a 302 stroked to 347 with a Vortek blower. It was very nice.
