Hey Yankey, I cringe at this because A/C that works well is DESIGNED not patched together. You can have soooo many problems patching one together. It is far, Far, FAR, harder to do right than build an engine and get it running correctly.
A/C is like walking a balance beam carrying a glass of water.
I understand A/C very well and I would not attempt a patch together.
What I would do is find a vehicle who's A/C would work for you then tear the whole system out and use it. Then you know the dryer style will work. That the low pressure cut out is set about right, that the condenser is large enough and not too large. That the reciever wont be too small. That the evaporator won't freeze up on you constantly, and that the compressor isn't over or under rated.
Make sure you use a 134A system too.
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
