urotu, thanks for the info. Yeah I would rather have a 351 but I don't plan to do a ton to this truck, I will fix things as they break or need fixing and put aftermarket on. The first thing I am doing since it needs shocks in the front is going to just do the suspension and get new shocks and springs in the front and drop it a few inches and then the back maybe at the same time or wait a few more months. I am guessing though if I do plan to do more to the engine at a later time like a better cam, carb, etc then I won't be wasting my money on the 302 will I?
But like I said, if I get it then new shocks and springs go in and dropped and then exhaust put in and that is it for a while and then when new tires are needed I will change the rims and tires both and put nicer rims and wider tires since the ones on there now are really skinny, especially the backs.
Matt, that is how most cars I find are around here. There is nothing left to them basically. I know of one GMC late 40's truck around here that looks like it just came out of the factory though and it's all stock. The old guy said he would never sell it and he bought it new but I heard he died the other day. A friend told me about it and said the guy has two sons and I am sure they will get the truck. I may have my friend look into it more for me (he finds out through where he works) but I am not getting my hopes up or even worrying about it at all and I don't count on it. It's the nicest original truck I have ever seen (and original meaning NOTHING changed and still has the same paint from factory, same little decals all over in the doors, etc.www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!
