I have a stock 265 v-8 in my '55 Bel Air and want to eliminate the stock top-mounted oil filter. Do I need to run an oil line to replace the filter or can I just plug the holes where the original oil line was connected to the engine?

Just plug them. That's what Chevy did.
you just plug the holes . that oil filter was a after-thought with gm in 55 . i have had many 55s and none of mine had a extra line on them .
Thanx, guys. That puts my mind at ease. We don' need no stinkin' filters...
