and a picture with the door closed. Once everything is adjusted and the door edges trimmed it should all work just as advertised.
Hey Dave, yup they were sitting on the front porch this morning when I went out, I was really surprised that they came so fast (4days) because I ordered them from a place on ebay that Denny linked me to and the place is in Canada so I was thinking it would take a couple weeks.
I really appreciate the advise on using these thanks a bunch, I've been sittin here playin with them and I am very impressed with the ease of light pressure that it takes to make them work, VERY nice! Looks like I got a job to do now tommorow when I work on the goat:3dSMILE: :3dSMILE:
The light pressure is another reason I like them, doesn't take a huge solenoid to open them. Did you get the install kit that comes with the plates, rods, and hardware to put them on??? I get mine from Hagen, comes with all Stainless hardware.
No I just got the latches and strikers because I'm running no door handles, but I'm going to be using a inner handle kit from chassisworks for routing the release mechanisim.
Funny thing was when I took them out of the box for the first 5 mins of messin with them I thought one was defective because I couldn't get it to release...then like a moron I noticed the lock release was held in the lock position by a set screw:3dSMILE: ...Duh!
Thanks for the kind words, Denny. Hope to have the body in primer by next weekend and will post a pic or two of it all assembled for test fit then. Very easy cars to build.
Dave,
You've probably mentioned this before, but who's the manufacturer of the glass body?
Henry, I sent you a PM detailing the info on the body.
Got the drivers side latch installed today, closes really nice I can push it to with just one finger.
Also Dave just like you mentioned to me I did have to extend the striker by about 1/4" to get it to latch.
Looks good Steve! How are you running no door handles? Don't you have to have them to race at the strip?
I am going to check the rules so that I can be 100% sure Shawn, but unless they changed, some guys at the track use a set up like this. The handle is on the top of the aluminum door panel but it is in the inside of the car, but there is a opening in the lexan window so that the handle is accesable by the track officals if they needed to get you out of the car.
Great job Steve. Are you going to put a plate on the outside of the jamb to prevent the screws from cracking out the glass??
Yup I just didnt have anything thinner than 1/4" plate in the garage today so I have to pick up a piece. Should be able to just run a 1" wide strip of 1/8" plate from the top screw to the bottom I'm thinking.
That Merc looks good Dave I didnt know you had a merc, you running the stick merc frame under that glass body?
that should hold it. The plates on the Merc are stainless, seems like 20 ga. should be plenty to hold it.
Yup, I believe your right about the latch. As long as they can get you out in the event of an accident your good to go. ........................ I think:confused:Quote:

I've been tryin to find my rule book for the past hour to see exactly what it says about the handles but I have no idea where I put the darn thing:whacked: I need to buy a updated one anyways so I'll see what the book says when I pick up the 2005 one because it would suck for me to finish shaveing the handles only to find out I was wrong:CRY:
Steve, this one is on a Crown Victoria frame. We also have another one that is on one of my frames with coilover suspension, 9" rear, and soon a 460 with a C-6.
I have a 2005 book. The only thing I have found so far is both doors must be functional from inside and outside on full bodied cars.Quote:

Guess It should be ok then as long as the handle can be opened from outside...i hope:HMMM:
Dave that looks real sweet I've always loved the lines of the mercs, hot rod yet classy at the same time:cool:
Looks sweet Steve. I never have seen a setup like that before. When do you plan to get your car all done? Any idea?
I was hopeing to have it all running and "done" except for paint this summer but the job situation is putting a slow down on that. Still coming along pretty good though so very worst case it will be done by next spring.
