First Post With Airguide Tach Question
I'm new to this Forum so a big Hello to everyone. I'm looking forward to talking with you guys. I do have a question though. I have a 72 Chevy 4x4 truck and it has an old 60's Model 651 Airguide Tachometer already mounted in the dash. It looks to be in really great condition and I'd like to use it if I can. Its not wired up at the time. I got the wiring hookup off of the back of the tach but I'm wondering if it will hook up to the tach terminal on my Chevy HEI distributor. Its an oldie but goodie and I don't want to hurt it. I appreciate any information on this you can give.

When I had the dash pulled out I didn't see anything on the back of the tach to set it up for the number of cylinders. This is a really old tach. Don't know if it is adjustable. So you don't think it will hurt it to hook up directly to the Tach terminal?

Thanks a million Denny! I'll have a chance to play with it this weekend if the weather is rough out in the Gulf of Mexico. We have a fishing trip planned to got out about a hundred miles and do some serious fishing but the waves look like they will be about 7 feet and I'm not going out in that!!

Well My truck is a 72 shortbed 4x4 with a 97 chevy 350 crate engine and a th350 tranny. Its my daily driver and I use it to hunt with. I need to up date my photos but I do have some at http://community.webshots.com/user/gator2511. I live in Tampa and had bought a 2003 chevy Z71 but had so many problems with it that I found this truck in St. Louis and drove out there, bought it, fixed a few things and sold the new truck. I'm really glad I did. Also with the truck photos ae some of my Vettes. I sold them also and now I only have the truck. It was fun though! I tried my link but it isn't working for some reason. The photos are there though. I can get it through another forum link so I know its still there.Last edited by gator 2511; 02-23-2005 at 04:05 AM.
