Mopar Power Steering Box Seal Replacement
The seals on my 70 cuda ps box have started to leak. It's leaking from where the steering shaft enters the box. I have the correct seal replacement kit and it appears to be an easy fix. I have the steering shaft separated from the box, unscrewed the collar and removed the indexed flat washer. Now, I'm looking at this cap. I can't figure out how it comes out. I do not see any retaining clip holding it in. The IBP with the kit shows where the O rings and seals go, but no reference to how the cap is removed. I don't want to break out the all purpose hammer and force anything yet. Does anyone know how the cap is removed? Any info would be greatly appreciated............................................170bcuda

There was no need to remove the pitman arm, thats not where it is leaking from. It's leaking from the seal where the steering column shaft enters the box. I have that disconnected, there is a threaded castled type collar that unscrews; I removed that and a flat washer. What I'm looking at now is the spline where the steering column coupler connects in the center of a domed cap cover. The pic in the other post is hard to tell if it's a mopar type box. It mounts with 3 bolts. For some reason, I can't attach a pic of what I'm trying to describe...............170bcuda

Yes, it the top seal. The kit I got has 2 O rings and a seal for the toip part of the steering gear.
My ex-wife just told me that she wants us to get back together again. Man, I sure am lucky! I mean, first I won the Lottery, and now this!
