youer not giving much to go on. you eather have a hot wire at the sol. when youer not suppose to or the sol. is stuck or the starter can be holden the sol. in. but youve got to do some checking there. nobody cant tell you what it is for sure. get a test light and when the starter keeps turning over check and see if there is 12v on the little wire at the sol. with the key off. if there is no voltage and the starter is still trying to turn over then, with the starter turning with little wire off of sol. then take the big starter wire off of the sol. it should stop then but you need to check the voltage on the big post and see if voltage is there with key off. if youve got voltage on the big starter post on the sol. with little wire and big wire off of the sol. then the sol. is bad. if everything stops when you pull the big starter wire off of the sol., and there is no voltage at the starter side of the sol. then the starter is your problem. i hope you got that stright because i didnt. make sure the motor is grounded good.Originally posted by Mustang5.O

the easy thing to do is put a sol. on it and see what happens. Mike

Heres you about 5 pages on a stuck solenoid, hahaha. And, remember that on some years, the solenoid has a diode to kepp it from back feeding. Heres you about 5 pages on a stuck solenoid, hahaha. And, remember that on some years, the solenoid has a diode to kepp it from back feeding.

I know, so, this will at least give the guy ideas. I guess when they don't answer, we can take it as a fix, or he just left, hahaha. (the other guy were talking about, not you). i got my problem fixed last night

i put a new starter cable on cuz i found that it was worn through and grounding on the motor.

i put a new starter and solenoid in. this fixed the problem then i put a diode on the solenoid to keep it from back feeding the starter.....which is what i thought was the problem to begin with
