Hood cowl
I would like a fiberglass hood for my 67 cougar, but can,t find anyone who makes one. Also will need a 4" cowl on it.
what is the reason why some of the hood cowls are facing to the driver and some face away? Other than some are truly induction cowls and some are just for carb clearest.http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e44/tzamk2/

Sounds like they'll make it to your specs and would probably mold in a hood scoop (cowl?) for you.
Fiberglass work isn't difficult.
Especially doing add-on stuff.

Aerodynamic supercharging as it were.
With the opening facing to the rear and close to the windshield, the scoop intake is in a relatively turbulence free area that is also an area of high pressure.C9

If they dont have the hood for your cougar check out fiberglass trends in FL. They did the glass for my goat and do nice work as well as will mold any scoop or cowl into the hood per your taste
I can dig up their # for you if you need it.

Also, as far as cowl induction. The area where the cowl panel meet the windshield is a very hi pressure area. Which is how air is forced into the cowl opening on a hood.
This is also why vents are put in the cowl panel. To supply air to the interior, when inside vent is turned on.

Ted,
Just so you have your terminology correct. The cowl of a car is the area or panel at the base of the windshield it does not apply to all hood scoops. I am guessing you need a 4 inch scoop or raise in your hood. If you ask for a cowl, they may not understand what you mean. Chevy had cowl induction hoods on Vettes, Camaros and Chevelles, but they were referring to the intake location. Hope that helps.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Your right! I was refering to cowl by mistake, what I wanted to known was about the hood scoop, need to clear breather on carb and also like the look.http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e44/tzamk2/

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
