what brand of stall to get?

i'm lookind at getting a 3200-3400 stall. i'm looking at getting a ati 10 inch stall. ati wants 620 plus tax and shipping. they have a up charge of 100 bucks for a amc 727 stall.

then i started to feel cheep and saw a tci 3000-3400 stall for 400 buck off the shelf. called them and gave them my info and they said it should stall at 3200.


is the ati worth the extra 240 bucks? on a 10 inch 3200 stall.
who else make a good mopar 727 stall? i'll need a custom stall because amc's have a bolt on flexplate.

ok let me say it another way. i can't remember what they call it. [ a ring gear/ flex plate}? the plate that has the teeth on it for the starter to grab. well on a 727 amc it bolts on to the converter. i've got a mopar 727 stall and it's welded to the converter.


the amc and mopar stalls are the same but the mopars have the flexplate welded to the converter and amc's bolt on.

far as i knew all mopar 727 converter had the flex plate welded to the converter. guess i was wrong

Stall isn't something that can be welded to something else. Stall isn't a thing. Stall speed is the RPM that the impeller in a torque converter has to spin in order to overcome a given load and begin moving the turbine. In other words, it's a measure of slippage.

You're apparently talking about a torque converter with a stall speed of around 3200 RPM. Most transmission/converter manufacturers make 727 converters that will bolt to an AMC engine.

It looks to me like you're comparing the price of a full race ATI unit to a standard street model TCI. Apples and oranges.

your right. i just checked ati's site. i can't get a ati 10 street master because of the flex plate. so he gave me a price on a tree master.

that's what he was talking about 100 bucks more for. a 10 inch tree master.

i thought i was compairing a tci 10 inch street fighter and a 10 inch ati street master

it's just not my day. i called ati about 2 weeks ago and got a price of 520 bucks. i called today and asked for a guy that new amc's and he told me 620 bucks and something about a up charge because of the flex plate and something about hand built . { tree master }
it was hard for me to here the guy on the phone for some reason.

so i understand now. thanks for your time, i would never of cought that. i'll getting the ati.
