Fans sound like a good suspect.

Disconnect components until it goes away.

Just run for short periods with the components isolated.

I'd start with the alternator.

A capacitor to ground might be the ticket for your fans,...

I C 2 hit it on the head with that old school look fuel injection set up

Or put another way... Can you really consider not investing unreasonable amounts of labor and time in something as visible as the intake and carb?
