Don't know if this is what ya mean, but saw it at a run this month, different strokes huh ?
If you liked that site, here's one that'll really get you goin'!

This is more what I am talkin about.
That site was really cool. Im thinkin I might build one.
WHAT a sales pitch!!!!

Perhaps there is a solution!
Early Volkswagen (type 1) cars are plentiful, cheap to buy and inexpensive to maintain. New and remanufactured parts are plentiful and ridiculously cheap.
The Volkswagen Beetle was designed in 1936 and is styled with many of the same shapes, surfaces and details found in cars of the same era.
unqoute.
I allways thought the Volksy was HITLERS REVENGE! they don't do to much for me infact I owned a 1936 CHEVY and used to get quite anoyed when the general public would ask me if it was based on a bloody Volkswagen......aaaarggggh!
The Volkswagon was indeed comissioned by Adolph. It was a cheap car for the people, and it was designed by german engineers. Surprisingly, it is very hard to find the engineering crews names:rolleyes: Volkswagon literally translates into Peoples Car. However, since Adolph did not have a direct hand in the design or marketing of Volkswagon, it is kind of hard to consider it Hitlers Revenge.Quote:

Not really hard at all David. His name was Dr. Ferdinand Porsche.Quote:

I enjoyed both sites... I have now added them to my favorites list... I would love to build a hot rod style VW!!!
Thanks for the links guys...

I helped a friend build and hot rod a Volkswagon back in the 70s. They are easy to work on and respond well to hot rodding. He suprised a lot of folks with that thing. I like the look and stance of the one that Jim posted. Have never seen one like that. It's different that's for sure
Pat
I dont know about a rat bug but heres a bug on steroids:LOL:
I seen the steroid bug . Its cool but I am more talkin about the fenderless streetrod inspired bugs. The more I think about it the more I like it. These bodies are cheap to get so you could spend your hard earned money on other parts to your rod.
Just an opinion.
Jim
:o what a perfect thread for me to post in...I myself have a 98 Golf which is being rodded as we speak. It's my daily, so it is of course a work in progress.
Honestly the only reason i decided to go with the "Hot Rod" theme for my car is that every other VW owner uses the same cookie cutter ideas when they decide to modify. Now, I'm not claiming to be one of a kind here. There are others just like me...but if you look at most of the modified VW's on the street today, well lets just say...they have nothing to do with looking driving or sounding like a hotrod.
but me...i'm the guy that is ditching fuel injection for carbs on my crossflow motor...i'm the guy that has moon equiped parts on my car...i'm the guy that just doesn't really care wtf everybody else is doing. So it just seemed natural to call it a hotrod.
well that's all...hope you guys can appreciate my view that it doesn't matter if your car is a 98VW or a 47 flathead:p
its a hotrod if you want it to be
:)
myself and dave b are trying to get a axle mount kit from them to build us one each .
We've got a couple of rodded bugs running around here in the town where I live, and I think they're way cool...
One is similar to the pic of the black one posted earlier in this thread, chopped & fenderless....the other one is chopped, and looks like it's been stretched a bit too, but they whacked the top completely off, so it's like a little roadster...
They both have pretty nasty engines in them, and sound really good too...they're both bad a$$ little bugs....
I love em! :D
