SBC in 41` Chevy frame
How do you determine the location of the 350 engine mounts in a 41` chevy coupe frame? Should I start with the install of the (MII front end) and work backwards? I am also considering getting one of those plastic mock-up engine blocks when the engine mounts were figured out. This is my first rat rod project if you haven`t already figured it out !!! Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

do the M2 front end first as wheel base, ride height , steering components, etc--------then figure/mount radiator ( dummy made out of wood? )
then use a block, oil pan, cylinder heads, water pump and accessories to determine where it can go--------- distributor clearance at back of engine/firewall is/can be a little tight-or you could use an LT1 with opti spark and fuel injection-------

I agree with setting the front suspension first and making sure that all the "stuff" in front of the engine will fit. The maker of my roller chassis didn't think about A/C installation, transmission clearance, and a few other things. Partially my fault for not double checking beforehand, but mostly his fault for making obviously incorrect claims. Think it all through beforehand - or pay the piper.
BTW Optispark . . . I'm glad my 1993 'Vette had it . . . not! Original failed. Replacement failed. Replacement of replacement failed. Maybe the aftermarket units are better than the original Chevy units. I hope so.
Sorry for the tangent. Bad, expensive memories.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 04-28-2015 at 09:52 PM.
